The preparatory steps you are going to learn first are:

It is totally natural for you to want to get ALL of the benefits of the Rites - RIGHT NOW! We are used to things being instant in our 'just add water' society!

However, please don't be tempted as the information in the following sections on Breathing and Core Stability is designed for you to learn with all of your senses - think, feel, see, hear, and touch.

You will gain so much more out of your practice if you understand as well as feel, see, hear, and touch what you are doing when practicing the Rites. It really doesn't take that much time to learn and once learned - you will never need to do it again.

Best of all, breathing is as vital to life and even the quality of your life as to what you hope to achieve by practicing the Rites.

In the core stability section, you will learn how to feel (identify) the correct muscles to activate. If you don't - you will compensate by using the wrong muscles. Having a strong belly with the right core muscles activated from the inside out will protect your lower back, neck, and spine for every activity that you do - even the ability to stand and sit with an upright posture without straining to do so.

If you are thinking of doing this for the long-term, life even - then do it right the first time is my advice. Here's what happened when one recent participant raced ahead.

"My whole business life was rush, multi-task, move on. Now at 68, I haven't changed much, but after I sent Carolinda a video of me doing 5 reps of each rite, that her input hit me like a tonne of bricks. My back was aching a bit, but I blamed getting back to golf after the Covid shutdown ended. You know, I have read countless books on mindfulness, but failed to really incorporate this into any of my recent get fit activities or just life in general. In other words, enjoy the ride (or is that rites), take your time, and continue in accordance with the workbook and scheduled changes, particularly to the leg raise. I also failed to read her workbook slowly and in a mindful state.

I am now taking more time enjoying the journey. Not rushing. I started back right at the start, so now I am at 7 reps including step3 of the leg raise. It gets easier, but only if you do it correctly and take this as a life change, rather than just a rushed up add on to your exercise programs.
